Soccer Game Preview: Etowah vs. New Hope

The Etowah Blue Devils will venture away from home to face off against the New Hope Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Etowah's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for four straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Monday just wasn't the day for Etowah's offense. They lost 9-0 to Arab on Monday.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask New Hope). They never let North Jackson get on the board and left with an 11-0 win on Friday. While the Indians didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

New Hope has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 34 goals over those five contests. Etowah's loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Etowah might still be hurting after the 5-0 defeat they got from New Hope in their previous meeting back in February. Can Etowah avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
