Baseball Game Preview: Clovis East Timberwolves vs. Clovis Cougars

For the second straight game, Clovis East will face off against Clovis. The Timberwolves will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against the Cougars at 6:30 p.m. Clovis East's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Clovis' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Clovis East fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Clovis on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 6-5. The Timberwolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Clovis' part, Deep Chohan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Chohan was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Clovis' success: when he posts at least one home run the team is 2-1 (and 7-11 when he doesn't).

Chohan wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Efird, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one double. Those two runs gave Efird a new career-high.

Clovis hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive contests.

Clovis East's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Clovis, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-6 and their overall record up to 9-12.
