Baseball Recap: Jackson City Victorious

Jackson City was handed a 15-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They skirted past the Lee County Bobcats 4-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-5 back in March.

Gavan Ritchie made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Jackson City let Jacob Morgan and Caige Ellis run wild. Morgan went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI, while Ellis scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Ellis has become a key player for Jackson City: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise.

Jackson City has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Lee County, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jackson City will face off against Phelps at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Lee County, they will host Rockcastle County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
