Basketball Recap: Jellico Sets Scoring Season-High Against Oliver Springs

Jellico fought the good fight in their overtime match against Oliver Springs on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 64-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Oliver Springs Bobcats. One positive for the Blue Devils, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Loss or not, Jellico got some senior leadership from Savannah Lay and Macy Mccullah. Lay went 5 for 7 on her way to 17 points and three steals, while Mccullah posted 14 points in addition to five assists and five boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lay has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendall Osborn, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten boards.

Even though they lost, Jellico was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Jellico is on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9. As for Oliver Springs, with the win, they broke their 12-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-9.

Jellico wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 74-42 defeat against Midway on the 20th. As for Oliver Springs, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Oakdale at 6:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
