With a playoff win on the line, Northwood rose to the challenge on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Loara Saxons a 10-0 shutout. Northwood's win was all the more impressive since the Saxons were averaging only two runs allowed on the season.

Northwood pushed their record up to 13-15-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Loara, the defeat snapped their winning streak at 16 games and leaves them with a 19-3 record.
