Basketball Recap: Elkhorn Falls to Gretna in First Game of Season

Elkhorn had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell 58-47 to the Gretna Dragons on Thursday. The Antlers haven't had much luck with the Dragons recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

When it comes to explaining why Elkhorn lost, don't look at Jake Petersen. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine boards. Those nine boards gave Petersen a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gus Schultz, who posted eight points.

Elkhorn didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 60-52 victory against Waverly on the 7th. As for Gretna, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 48-40 win against Douglas County West on the 6th.
