Recap: Andrews Wildcats vs. North Buncombe Black Hawks
The Andrews Wildcats scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They walked away with an 81-70 victory over North Buncombe. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Cameron Rattler was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 15 rebounds. The match was his third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ty Clark, who scored 18 points.
Despite the defeat, North Buncombe saw an underclassman step up: Trent Clark scored 39 points along with four steals. Clark scored a full 55.7% of North Buncombe's points, the tenth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Matthew Ledford was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Andrews pushed their record up to 7-1 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.0 points per game. As for North Buncombe, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-5.
Andrews won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Madison at 12:30 p.m. on December 28, 2023. Hopefully Madison focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Wednesday. North Buncombe won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Swain County at 6:30 p.m. on December 28, 2023.
