Soccer Game Preview: Lakeland vs. DeKalb

Lakeland hasn't had much luck against DeKalb recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Lakers will square off against the Barons at 5:00 p.m. Lakeland has given up an average of 3.1 goals per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lakeland is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to five goals on Monday, they were much more limited against Elkhart on Thursday. They came up short against the Lions, falling 7-0.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for DeKalb, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They never let Fort Wayne Bishop Luers get on the board and left with a 4-0 win on Tuesday. Considering DeKalb have won eight matches by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

DeKalb's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-5. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 13 goals over those three contests. As for Lakeland, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Lakeland suffered a grim 7-0 defeat to DeKalb when the teams last played back in August. Can the Lakers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
