Softball Recap: Toronto Comes Up Short

Toronto extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 9-10. They lost 18-3 to the Brooke Bruins. The Red Knights were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bruins apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Jaylee Brown was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double. Lily Sapp was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

As for Brooke, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-16 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.

On Brooke's side, Eden McKinney made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. McKinney was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted over her last 12 games.

In other batting news, Maggie Diserio was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emma Teller, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Toronto will face off against Wellsville at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Brooke, they will take on North Marion at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
