Softball Recap: Northeastern's Win Ends Three-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Northeastern had lost three games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 9-11 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the West Liberty-Salem Tigers a 2-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-2 on Monday.

The result came thanks to Renna Kelly's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kylee Williams, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Waugh, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for West Liberty-Salem, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered since May 8, 2024.

On West Liberty-Salem's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Oliva Reichardt, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases.

Looking ahead, Northeastern will host Tri-County North at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Jets surely won't give up without a fight. As for West Liberty-Salem, they will venture away from home to square off against Cedarville at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
