Basketball Recap: Compton Comes Up Short

Compton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 11th straight loss. They were dealt a 96-49 defeat at the hands of the Millikan Rams. While losing is never fun, the Tarbabes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1187th, while the Rams are ranked 177th).

Jeremiah Hunt was his usual excellent self, shooting 4-for-7 from downtown and almost dropping a double-double on 26 points and nine boards for Millikan. That's the most rebounds Hunt has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Wicker, who dropped a triple-double on 12 points, 11 boards, and ten assists.

Compton's loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Millikan, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-8.

When Compton and Millikan next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Compton will square off against Wilson and their three-game winning streak at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Millikan will try to stop Long Beach Poly's five-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
