Softball Recap: Gustine Find Success

Gustine lost to Modesto back in April of 2017, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Gustine Reds walked away with a 16-12 victory over the Modesto Panthers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Reds.

Gustine let Shandel Aguilera and Jacqueline Chavez run wild. Aguilera scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Chavez scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Chavez is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's stolen at least one every time she's taken the field this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Amaya Tsouvas, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Gustine now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Modesto, their loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Gustine will take on Orestimba at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Modesto, they have already played their next matchup, a 24-8 win against Waterford on the 21st.
