Softball Recap: Desert Ridge Comes Up Short

After flying high against Cibola on Friday, Desert Ridge came back down to earth. The Desert Ridge Jaguars took a 12-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mountain View Toros on Saturday. The Jaguars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Toros apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Elena Esquivel made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run and three runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Brooklyn Parks was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Esquivel wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Desert Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matches dating back to last season.

Desert Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Mountain View, the win also got them back to even at 2-2.

Desert Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 13-3 victory against Campo Verde on the 1st. As for Mountain View, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-0 win against Cibola on the 1st.
