Courtland typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Spotsylvania proved too difficult a challenge. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Cougars a 4-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-0 back in April.

Spotsylvania's victory bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Courtland, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-6.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Spotsylvania will take on rival Culpeper County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Knights 3.9, the Blue Devils 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Courtland is set to challenge their familiar foe Caroline at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
