Preview: Doherty Spartans vs. Vista Ridge Wolves
Doherty has been on the road for three straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Vista Ridge Wolves at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Doherty's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 15 contests.
On Friday, Doherty took their matchup on the road with ease, bagging a 59-32 victory over Fountain-Fort Carson. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 40-14.
Doherty's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maddox Dee-Mortensen, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Solomon Latimer, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Vista Ridge pushed their score all the way to 65 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 76-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pine Creek.
Doherty has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. As for Vista Ridge, they dropped their record down to 6-15 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home.
Doherty strolled past Vista Ridge when the teams last played back in January by a score of 67-53. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Vista Ridge's Brandon Avance, who scored 19 points along with two steals.
