Kelly has gone 9-1 against Juarez recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Trojans will head out to square off against the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Kelly is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.2 runs per game this season.
Kelly is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering ACERO Garcia just ended the team's six-game winning streak on Saturday. They lost 12-6 to the Patriots.
Alfredo Socorro was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with six stolen bases and three runs. Socorro is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least two every time he's taken the field this season.
In other batting news, Arturo Martinez was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs.
Meanwhile, while Juarez put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Dunbar. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Mightymen. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.
Like Kelly, Juarez also got a great game from a two-way player: Adrian Davila. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Davila also tossed no walks, which is notable because Juarez is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-3 otherwise. Davila was also big at the plate, earning one run and three stolen bases.
In other batting news, Juarez got a massive performance out of Jose Paredes, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. That home run marked the first that Paredes has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Manuel Lozado, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Juarez always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .733. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Juarez's record now sits at 3-4. As for Kelly, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 6-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Kelly has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Juarez struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Kelly's way against Juarez in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, as Kelly made off with a 15-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Trojans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
