Thornton comes up short despite Clayton Jones' dominant performance

Recap: Thornton Trojans vs. Aurora Central Trojans

The Thornton Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 76-55 walloping at the hands of Aurora Central. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.

Despite the loss, Thornton still got an impressive performance from Clayton Jones, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds. Jones has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kainoa Miller, who scored 11 points.

Aurora Central found their leader in underclassman Alejandro (Alex) Flores, who went 9 for 13 from beyond the arc en route to 41 points and 2 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Flores has scored all season. Charles Laurendine II was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with six steals and five rebounds.

Thornton's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Aurora Central, the win got them back to even at 6-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Thornton will take on Conifer at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Aurora Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Adams City at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
