Softball Recap: Gorham Extends Winning Streak to Five

Gorham won the last time they faced Marshwood and things went their way on Friday too. The Rams were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Hawks. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.

Bella McBrady was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. McBrady was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. She also put up a run, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Sophia Marquis was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Kylee Lebrun was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and one run.

Gorham lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Gorham, bringing their record up to 10-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Marshwood, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gorham will square off against Sanford at 3:30 p.m. on June 1. As for Marshwood, they will take on Cheverus at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Hawks will need to watch out since the Stags have now posted at least ten runs in their last six matchups.
