Recap: Estero Wildcats vs. Canterbury Cougars
The Estero Wildcats lost against the Canterbury Cougars back in December of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Estero suffered a rough 52-31 defeat at the hands of Canterbury. While losing is never fun, Estero can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 136th, while Canterbury is ranked 50th).
Canterbury found their leader in underclassman Casey O'connell, who shot 4-for-6 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which O'connell has scored at least 25% of Canterbury's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaya Langford, who scored 12 points along with 5 assists.
Estero's defeat dropped their record down to 2-1. As for Canterbury, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.
Estero will head out on the road to face off against Fort Myers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Canterbury, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Oasis at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
