Baseball Game Preview: Ravenna Ravens vs. McKinley Red Dragons

The Ravenna Ravens are taking a road trip to challenge the McKinley Red Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Ravenna took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They blew past Bedford 9-2. The win was some much needed relief for the Ravens as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Jeriah Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Ravenna got a massive performance out of Connor Welling, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Welling has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Godley, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, McKinley posted their closest victory since May 2, 2024 on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Struthers 2-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

McKinley's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-5 and their overall record up to 3-6. As for Ravenna, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-8.
