Addison Jones and Anika Mulkey secure win for Desert Christian

Recap: Desert Christian Eagles vs. Baboquivari Warriors

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Duncan, the Desert Christian Eagles were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They managed a 39-33 win over Baboquivari. For Desert Christian, this counts as revenge for the 42-30 loss Baboquivari walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February.

Desert Christian was led to victory by Addison Jones and Anika Mulkey. Jones dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds, while Mulkey scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Mulkey has scored at least 25% of Desert Christian's points. Priscilla Genteman was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five rebounds.

When it comes to explaining why Baboquivari lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kara Baptisto. Despite the final result, she scored 20 points along with six steals. The game was Baptisto's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Meilia Johnson, who scored two points along with seven rebounds and five assists.

Desert Christian now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Baboquivari, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-3.

Desert Christian will head out on the road to face off against Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The pair have allowed few points on average, (Arizona School for the Deaf & Blind: 17.2, Desert Christian: 23.6) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Baboquivari, they will take on Douglas at 3:40 p.m. on Thursday. Douglas presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Baboquivari in Arizona (Douglas is ranked 34th, while Baboquivari is ranked 196th).
