Softball Game Preview: Palo Verde Valley Yellow Jackets vs. Southwest EC Eagles

Palo Verde Valley hasn't had much luck against Southwest EC recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. Palo Verde Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

Palo Verde Valley challenged Calipatria in a bug-themed battle two weeks ago. The Yellow Jackets put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 17-1 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Yellow Jackets considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Alyssa Pierce was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Yasleen Reyes was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs.

Meanwhile, Southwest EC fell victim to Imperial and their airtight pitching crew last Thursday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. The Eagles' loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Southwest EC's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 12-6. As for Palo Verde Valley, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.

Palo Verde Valley might still be hurting after the 8-1 loss they got from Southwest EC in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Yellow Jackets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
