Football Recap: Petersburg Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Petersburg extended their winning streak to three on Friday, bumping them up to 3-0. They came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured a 26-21 W against the Pendleton County Wildcat. The Vikings have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wildcat, too.

Kaleb Kuhn was the offensive standout of the game as he rushed for 57 yards and one touchdown, and also picked up 43 receiving yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Petersburg was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 256 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in August of 2024.

Having lost for the first time this season, Pendleton County fell to 2-1. The loss put an end to their undefeated start to the season.

When it comes to explaining why Pendleton County lost, don't look at Travis Owens. Despite the final result, he picked up 164 receiving yards and one score. Owens also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making ten total tackles (0.5 for loss) and defending two passes.

Petersburg didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 28-13 win against Tyler on the 19th. As for Pendleton County, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Tygarts Valley at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th.
