Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gila Ridge). They blew past the Kofa Kings 75-33 on Friday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Hawks as it put an end to their eight-game losing streak.

Despite the loss, Kofa saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Mark Mercado went 6 for 11 on his way to 14 points. Another player making a difference was Christian Curiel, who posted five points.

Gila Ridge's victory ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-11. As for Kofa, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Gila Ridge has already played their next match (against Yuma), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Kofa has also has no score uploaded for their next contest, this one against San Luis.
