After a string of four wins, Newton South's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They lost 10-3 to the St. Mary's Spartans. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Lions have suffered since May 22, 2024.

Newton South saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hannah Schwagwer, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Newton South's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for St. Mary's, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Newton South will host Concord-Carlisle at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Mary's, they will face off against Monomoy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Spartans have won seven straight at home dating back to last season, while the Sharks won six straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
