Basketball Game Preview: St. Elizabeth Hornets vs. Iberia Rangers

The St. Elizabeth Hornets will be taking part in a tournament against the Iberia Rangers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Elizabeth is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 65.4 points per game this season.

Last Monday, St. Elizabeth got the win against Non Varsity Tournament Opponent by a conclusive 81-57. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hornets.

Gavin Williams continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. He has become a key player for St. Elizabeth: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least eight boards, but 4-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyson Green, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 12 points.

Meanwhile, Iberia suffered their biggest defeat since February 22, 2024 on Friday. They lost 78-54 to Licking. The Rangers have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Iberia's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for St. Elizabeth, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.

St. Elizabeth came up short against Iberia in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, falling 71-67. Can St. Elizabeth avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
