Volleyball Recap: Independence Falls Despite Big Games from Madelyn Mudra and Sofia Pichert

If Independence was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Brooklyn on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Blue Devils fell 3-1 to the Archbishop Hoban Knights on Thursday. The Blue Devils have struggled against the Knights recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-21, 23-25, 25-9.

Sofia Pichert and Madelyn Mudra certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Pichert had 17 digs and two aces, while Mudra had 11 digs and two aces. Pichert has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last three times she's played.

Independence's defeat dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Archbishop Hoban, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.

Independence does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Archbishop Hoban, they will head out on the road to face off against Wadsworth at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
