Softball Game Preview: Carson Cougars vs. Butler Bulldogs

The Carson Cougars will square off against the Butler Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Carson lost 20-4 to Northwest Cabarrus on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Trojans: they've now lost three in a row.

Emma Woodlief was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Caroline Snow, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Butler was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Independence, falling 15-4.

Alyssa Rubidoux made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cherie Carter, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Carson's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Butler, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.

Butler's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Carson hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. It's a different story for Butler, though, as they've only averaged .253. Will they be able to contain Carson's hitters?
