Basketball Game Preview: Swansboro Pirates vs. West Carteret Patriots

The Swansboro Pirates are taking a road trip to take on the West Carteret Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Swansboro knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 18 games -- so hopefully West Carteret likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, Swansboro got the win against Dixon by a conclusive 69-49. The win continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won nine in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Swansboro to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jonah Holt, who went 8 for 13 on his way to 24 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. That's the most steals Holt has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Lorenzo Floyd, who went 7 of 12 to rack up 20 points and five boards.

Meanwhile, West Carteret came up short against Kinston on Monday and fell 62-54. The Patriots have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Swansboro's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 31.8 points. As for West Carteret, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6.

Everything came up roses for Swansboro against West Carteret in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 96-63 win. Does Swansboro have another victory up their sleeve, or will West Carteret turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
