Baseball Recap: Lee County Bobcats vs. Leslie County Eagles
Lee County had lost five straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 5-11 to make it six. They lost 14-7 to the Leslie County Eagles. If the Bobcats were looking for revenge after losing 15-5 to the Eagles when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Leslie County, the win snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 5-18 record. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.
For Leslie County's part, Connor Russell looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, Russell posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Rylan Simpson, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Peyton Fouts, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lee County will head out to face off against Rockcastle County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Leslie County, they will venture away from home to square off against Harlan at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Green Dragons have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
