Recap: Oakwood Academy Mustangs vs. St. Mary's Dragons
On Saturday, Oakwood Academy was beaten by St. Mary 95-52. While losing is never fun, Oakwood Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 226th in Alabama, while St. Mary's is ranked 17th in Missouri).
Despite the defeat, Oakwood Academy saw an underclassman step up: Jadon Williams dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of William Lee, who scored 17 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Oakwood Academy and nudges their season record down to 10-13. As for St. Mary's, they pushed their record up to 14-1 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oakwood Academy on the road again on Monday and play against Columbia at 7:00 p.m. on January 29th. Columbia has now lost 11 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 9. As for St. Mary's, they will head out on the road to challenge Duchesne at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
