Baseball Recap: Clearview Comes Up Short

Clearview extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 14 on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-5. They lost 15-0 to the Oberlin Phoenix. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

Oberlin's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-5. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Oberlin's part, Drew Walter made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Walter was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Oberlin got a massive performance out of Liam Steggall, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. What's more, Steggall posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Jayden Green, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clearview will face off against Cleveland Central Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Oberlin, they will be playing at home against Fairview at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
