Softball Preview: Morehead Panthers vs. North Forsyth Vikings
The Morehead Panthers will challenge the North Forsyth Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Morehead and 20 for North Forsyth dating back to last season.
Things were looking good for Morehead after they put the first points on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 5-2 to Providence Grove.
Saillie Aheron spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Morehead saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Taylor Hopper, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Another was Ella Wade, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for North Forsyth's offense. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 15-0 to West Stokes, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.
North Forsyth's loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Morehead, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.
