Baseball Game Preview: Clarke Indians vs. Cardinal Comets

The Clarke Indians will venture away from home to face off against the Cardinal Comets at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The last three games Clarke has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Friday, Clarke had just enough and edged out Des Moines North 11-9.

Meanwhile, Cardinal posted their closest victory since July 1, 2024 on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past North Mahaska 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Comets in their matchups with the Warhawks: they've now won three in a row.

Clarke is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-17 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Cardinal, their victory bumped their record up to 15-8.

Clarke couldn't quite get it done against Cardinal when the teams last played on June 6th as they fell 6-2. Can the Indians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
