Soccer Game Preview: Sandalwood vs. Matanzas

The Sandalwood Saints are taking a road trip to face off against the Matanzas Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Matanzas took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Sandalwood, who comes in off a win.

Sandalwood will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one goal on Thursday, then bounced right back against Ridgeview on Tuesday. Sandalwood's defense stepped up to hand Ridgeview a 4-0 shutout. Considering the Saints have won three contests by more than three goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, after soaring to six goals the game before, Matanzas was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They fell 3-1 to Seminole.

Sandalwood now has a winning record of 4-3-3. As for Matanzas, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-3.

Sandalwood suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Matanzas in their previous matchup back in November of 2016. Can Sandalwood avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
