Recap: Springfield Blue Devils vs. Clay Eagles

This season hasn't been kind to the Springfield Blue Devils, who are still winless after their fifth contest. They took a 45-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clay on Tuesday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Springfield has scored all season.

Several Blue Devils players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aaron Adams, who scored seven points along with ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Adams pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Nate Pope, who scored seven points along with four steals.

Springfield struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.

Springfield bumped their record down to 0-5 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Clay, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Springfield will challenge Ross at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Ross and Springfield are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads. As for Clay, they will head out on the road to face off against Southview at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Southview will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
