Softball Recap: Cromwell Comes Up Short

Cromwell had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 8-4 to make it four. They fell 6-2 to the Barnum Bombers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cardinals of the 5-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

As for Barnum, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games.

For Barnum's part, Alizondra Collelo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. Collelo has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Barnum saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Piper Genereau, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Coming up, Cromwell will head out on the road to face off against Floodwood at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Barnum, they will be playing at home against East Central at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
