Basketball Game Preview: South Wake Sabres vs. Surry HomeSchool Runnin' Patriots

The South Wake Sabres will challenge the Surry HomeSchool Runnin' Patriots at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. South Wake will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Last Saturday, South Wake blew past Chatham HomeSchool, posting a 70-37 win. The Sabres have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 22 games by 24 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Rebekah Hartzell, who to rack up 30 points along with six boards and six steals. Those 30 points gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Taylor, who posted nine points and five rebounds.

South Wake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Surry HomeSchool was beaten by South Guilford HomeSchool 58-28 on Saturday. The loss continues a trend for the Runnin' Patriots in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now lost eight in a row.

Surry HomeSchool's defeat dropped their record down to 7-17. As for South Wake, their victory bumped their record up to 27-2.

Everything came up roses for South Wake against Surry HomeSchool in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as the team secured a 59-4 win. Will South Wake repeat their success, or does Surry HomeSchool have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
