Football Recap: Mt. Zion Bulldogs vs. Luella Lions

After low-scoring totals in their previous four contests, Mt. Zion brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They breezed by the Luella Lions to the tune of 33-6 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Bulldogs have posted since November 8, 2023.

Mt. Zion can attribute much of their success to Makayla Juhan, who picked up 61 receiving yards, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.

Mt. Zion didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Juhan led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by herself.

With the win, Mt. Zion broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-4. As for Luella, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Dutchtown the next time they take the field. Mt. Zion will host Dutchtown at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Luella will play them later in the day, at 5:30 p.m.
