Softball Recap: Wednesday's Win Is Corydon Central's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Corydon Central had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Madison Cubs a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 11 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Ava Gerdon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Meghan Logan was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Addison Alford, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Corydon Central is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Madison, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-14.

As of now, neither Corydon Central nor the Cubs have any future games scheduled.
