Football Recap: Bayside Academy Skates Past Monroe County with Ease

While Bayside Academy put up plenty of points on Friday, the same can't be said for Monroe County. The Admirals blew past the Tigers 60-0. The result was nothing new for the Admirals, who have now won three contests by 22 points or more so far this season.

Bayside Academy found their leader in sophomore Davis Barnett, who threw for 284 yards and five TDs on only 19 passes. Those five passing touchdowns set a new season-high mark for Barnett. Ward Hix was another key player, picking up 62 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

One reason for the win was Bayside Academy's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. Will Allen was especially locked on to Monroe County's QB and sacked him twice. Allen is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last five games he's played dating back to last season.

The victory (which was Bayside Academy's third in a row) raised their record to 3-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.7 points on average over those games. As for Monroe County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bayside Academy will square off against Flomaton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hurricanes' defense has only allowed 11.8 points per game this season, so the Admirals' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Monroe County, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on New Brockton at 7:00 p.m. on the 26th.
