Basketball Preview: Medford Raiders vs. Antigo Red Robins
Medford is 9-1 against the Red Robins since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Medford Raiders will head out on the road to take on the Antigo Red Robins at 7:15 p.m. Medford will be strutting in after a victory while the Red Robins will be coming in after a defeat.
Even though Rhinelander scored an imposing 55 points on Thursday, Medford still came out on top. Medford came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hodags and snuck past 57-55.
Meanwhile, Antigo's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by Mosinee on the road and fell 78-34. While losing is never fun, Antigo can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 390th, while the Indians are ranked 54th).
Medford has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season. As for Antigo, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-14.
Everything came up roses for Medford against the Red Robins in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 as the team secured a 71-31 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Medford since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
