Volleyball Recap: Lafayette Jefferson Takes a Loss

Lafayette Jefferson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They came up short against the McCutcheon Mavericks, falling 3-0. The Bronchos were not able to make up for their defeat to the Mavericks from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-12, 25-15, 25-14.

Maya Layton paced Lafayette Jefferson's offense, picking up six kills. Layton were helped by Jaeleah Thorpe and Andi Mooney, who contributed four assists each. Mooney was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Leading McCutcheon to victory were Mackenzie Taylor and Lydia Weaver. Taylor had 13 digs and four aces, while Weaver had ten digs and three aces. That's the most aces Taylor has posted over her last ten contests. Rebecca Gaeta also deserves some recognition as she had her first kill of the season.

Lafayette Jefferson's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for McCutcheon, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-6.

Coming up, Lafayette Jefferson will challenge Clinton Prairie at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for McCutcheon, they will face off against Noblesville at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
