Baseball Recap: Huntland Comes Up Short

Huntland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cornersville Bulldogs. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Chandler Banks put in work no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

Banks wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Grant Jernigan, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Huntland's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Cornersville, their win ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3.

Huntland has already played their next match, a 6-0 defeat against Moore County on the 17th. As for Cornersville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 12-2 loss against Mt. Pleasant on the 17th.
