Softball Game Preview: Florence Eagles vs. Loyd Star Hornets

The Florence Eagles are taking a road trip to square off against the Loyd Star Hornets at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Florence comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Florence came into this matchup off a tough ten-run loss back in February. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Puckett by a score of 7-5 back in February. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Eagles have suffered since March 23, 2024.

Meanwhile, Loyd Star faced off against Enterprise. in a bug-themed battle on Friday. Loyd Star sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over Enterprise.

Loyd Star is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. Florence's loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
