Baseball Recap: New Lexington Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

There's no place like home for New Lexington, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. Everything went their way against the West Muskingum Tornadoes on Friday as they made off with a 13-3 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Panthers considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Wyatt Givens spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on two hits. He has become a key player for New Lexington: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 4-7 otherwise.

At the plate, New Lexington got a massive performance out of Nathan Gottke, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Gottke a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jaxson Newlon, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

New Lexington moved to 6-8 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for West Muskingum, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.

Looking ahead, New Lexington will welcome Coshocton at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. West Muskingum has already played their next game (against Licking Valley), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
