Baseball Recap: Lawrence County Wins Going Away Against East Carter

Lawrence County had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt East Carter on Thursday. The Bulldogs blew past the Raiders 15-3. The Bulldogs have beaten the Raiders the last six times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Raiders has come to flipping the script.

Lawrence County got a great performance from Braxton Davis as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts Davis has posted since back in April.

At the plate, Eli Fletcher was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Logan Whisenant was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Lawrence County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .607. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Lawrence County pushed their record up to 19-9 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for East Carter, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 18-15 record this season.

As of now, neither Lawrence County nor East Carter have any future games scheduled.
