Hutchinson posted their closest win since December 19, 2023 on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the South Cougars 50-47. The win continues a trend for the Salthawks in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won eight in a row.

South lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Sawyer Walker, who went 6-for-10 en route to 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Humphrey, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds.

Hutchinson's victory bumped their record up to 9-10. As for South, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-13.

Looking ahead, Hutchinson will challenge Hays at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hays will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Hutchinson surely won't give up without a fight. South does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
