Baseball Recap: Glenwood Springs Triumphs

While Glenwood Springs's victory against Steamboat Springs wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Demons sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Sailors on Saturday. The Demons haven't had any issues with the Sailors recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Jackson Irving was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Glenwood Springs is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Irving was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Grady Aguirre was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Glenwood Springs: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 3-4 otherwise. Josh Doll was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Glenwood Springs' win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 6-4. As for Steamboat Springs, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-6.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Glenwood Springs beat the Sailors by a score of 14-6 later that day.
