Baseball Game Preview: Apollo Eagles vs. Warren East Raiders

The Apollo Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Warren East Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Apollo's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Warren East's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Apollo's offense. They fell just short of Breckinridge County by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Warren East owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Allen County-Scottsville as they made off with a 9-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Raiders.

Brenden Bratcher made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

In other batting news, Kavien Hinton was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Briggs Young was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Warren East kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 8.8.

Apollo's loss dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Warren East, their record is now 10-14.

Apollo was able to grind out a solid win over Warren East in their previous meeting on Friday, winning 4-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
